“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have
fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”
I John 1:3

“Proclaim” is the theme for the 2019 Young Adult League Conference being hosted by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco from August 29 – September 2, 2019 at the Hyatt Long Beach, CA. This will be a weekend filled with opportunities for fellowship, friendship, faith, and service. Young Adults who have completed high school and are at least 18 years of age through age 35 years old are invited to attend this inspirational weekend.

Under the spiritual leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos, the YAL Conference is a priority program to expand our offerings to this important age group. “I am excited for this gathering with our young adults, and to engage with them in dialogue about our faith and how important it is to stay connected to the Church,” stated His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos. “The YAL movement has tremendous potential to impact our parishes with a new generation of leaders, and whose talents can make a positive impact on the growth of our Orthodox faith.”

Several uplifting workshops will be offered throughout the weekend, coordinated by the Metropolis of San Francisco Family Wellness ministry. These will include compelling topics such as: Balancing Humility with Career Progress as an Orthodox Christian; Proclaiming the Mystery of Christ in an Apathetic World; Not On Our Own Terms: Letting the Kingdom of God Come Into our Life and Transform Us; Broken, Wounded . . . and Perfect! Christ’s Perfection Amidst Our Broken Nature; and How Past Relationships Impact our Understanding of Ourself, and Ourself in Relationship with Others.

Workshop presenters include: Father Gary Kyriacou, Father Tom and Presvytera Pat Tsagalakis, Father Timothy Pavlatos, Father Niko Bekris, Father Christopher Retelas, Father Constantine Trumpower, Father Jacob Saylor, and Mr. George Papageorge – Director of the Metropolis Family Wellness Ministry.

In addition to workshops, daily worship services, and fellowship, YAL Conference participants will join hands in a Diakonia (service) project with Rise Against Hunger, packaging 10,000 to 20,000 meals for those who hunger throughout the world. Additional opportunities for young adults to extend the Diakonia project to their home parishes will also be offered and encouraged.

The YAL Conference will be held in sunny Southern California at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, 200 S. Pine Avenue, Long Beach, CA. A discounted room rate is available so secure your room online today!

Online registration is now open, with a discounted registration package of $299 available for students until June 14, 2019. The General Registration deadline will follow on July 14, and the Late Registration deadline is on July 31, 2019.

The YAL Conference is under the leadership of Chairman George Anagnostopoulos who is working with a dedicated Executive Committee and Steering Committee comprised of nearly 60 young adults who are committed to making the YAL conference a memorable and spiritually uplifting weekend. Advisors to the committee are the Honorable Steven and Stacia Counelis, who co-chaired the last YAL Conference held in the Metropolis of San Francisco in 2002. They are passionate about this ministry and are honored to be revitalizing this important program.
