In Memoriam: Patricia Kay Lagiss

Patricia Kay Lagiss

August 31, 1944 – June 3, 2017

Patricia “Pat” Lagiss passed away at her mother’s home in Woodside, CA, following a private and courageous struggle with cancer. She was the devoted and loving daughter of Virginia (please see In Memoriam – Virginia Lagiss) and predeceased father Jim and dear sister to Barbie and James.

Pat was a graduate of San Francisco State University and had a 44-year successful career in education. Many South San Francisco school district graduates respected Pat and were thankful to her for her years of service as a home economics teacher, counselor, high school vice principal, and finally a district administrator.

Proud of her Greek heritage, she honored it by speaking Greek when she had the opportunity and being very active in several Greek organizations. She was on the board of directors for the Greek American Hellenic Professional Society. Pat was also a very active member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Belmont and taught or administered Sunday school for over 20 years.

Some of her favorite stories included her Greek grandmother teaching her the art of cooking. She loved fashion, ice cream, hosting parties, travel and people. She traveled to nearly all of the continents, but loved her trips to Greece, Italy, Egypt, and Africa the most.

Services were held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Belmont, CA. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cancer Research or Alzheimer’s Research. May her memory be eternal.
