The 2018 Metropolis Church Music Federation Conference will be hosted by the Saint Spyridon parish in San Diego, CA from August 23 – 26, 2018. This year’s conference will feature educational workshops, introduce new music, provide opportunities for choral singing and Byzantine Chant, worship and fellowship. Special activities are also being planned for Youth Choir members who will participate in programs and activities designed to inspire their ongoing participation in the music ministry of their respective parishes.
An anticipated highlight during the conference will be a performance on Friday evening, August 24, by Eikona, a three-sister ensemble featuring Presvytera Stacey Dorrance, Presvytera Marika Brown, and Chrysanthy Therianos. The acclaimed trio chant Byzantine-styled Hymns and sing Contemporary Christian Music. Rooted in the Greek Orthodox Church, their music preserves, shares and promotes centuries’ worth of rich, musical tradition of hymns and psalmody. Their angelic voices have been heard in services and homes around the world and continue to inspire, encourage, and excite the newest generation of Greek Orthodox and Christian music fans.
