The Elios Society and Elios Charitable Foundation are proud to honor Gary M. Vrionis with the 2017 Elios Award of Excellence.
“Gary has been an influential member of Elios for many years,” stated John Gumas, President of the Elios Society and Elios Charitable Foundations. “His vision for Elios and his steady guidance have helped craft Elios into the successful organization it is today. I can’t think of a more deserving recipient for this award than Gary Vrionis.”
Gary M. Vrionis is a native of San Francisco, California. His father is the late Milton G. Vrionis, a prominent real estate developer and philanthropist. His mother, also a great patron and benefactor of the community, is Constance D. Vrionis, the daughter of Rev. Father George Makos, who served as Pastor of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in San Jose, CA from 1958 – 1961.
He attended Town School for Boys in San Francisco and graduated Cum Laude from Crystal Springs and Uplands College Preparatory High School in Hillsborough. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at Santa Clara University in 1986 Cum Laude.
Mr. Vrionis married Constantina Chicos (Tsakopoulos) nearly 30 years ago and they have two children, Victoria (age 26) and Milton (age 17). Victoria is married to Mr. Michael Cella of Hillsborough, CA. Victoria and Michael recently welcomed the Vrionis’ first grandchild, Charlotte, into the world.
Mr. Vrionis is the CEO and Managing Partner of Vrionis and Son, LLC, a real estate management and development firm founded by his father, Milton G. Vrionis, over 50 years ago. The company maintains assets in several states but focuses primarily on projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to overseeing the operations of the various Vrionis Partnerships, Companies and Trusts, Mr. Vrionis plays an active role in the administration of the numerous charitable activities of the Vrionis Family and its Foundations. The Greek Orthodox Church has been and continues to be one of their primary beneficiaries. Gary and Tina Vrionis are stewards of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco.
They also proudly support many other charities including the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, the Elios Charitable Foundation, the National Hellenic Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Autism Speaks, the Coast Guard Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Generation Alive and the Wheelchair Foundation.
Most recently, the Vrionis’ have established an endowment at De La Salle High School in Concord, CA and are benefactors of the baseball program at St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga.
Gary M. Vrionis, Archon Eftaxias, is an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He is a member and past Vice-President of the Elios Society, serves on the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Journal, is a member of Leadership 100, the National Hellenic Society, Villa Taverna, Blackhawk Country Club and the Wine & Food Society of San Francisco.
Gary has many hobbies but values the time he spends with his family the most.
