HUMAN TRAFFICKING: On March 2nd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a Human Trafficking Free Workshop and Fundraiser will take place at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Portland, OR to benefit the Servants Anonymous (SA) Foundation. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Guest speakers include His Eminence Metropolitan Nikitas, Director of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute in Berkeley, CA. Regarding the recent human trafficking workshop in Pasadena, His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos stated in a press release from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America’s Metropolis of San Francisco (dated November 9, 2018): “The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco has made a serious commitment to join this effort and follow the direction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to eliminate this plague on humanity. …It is up to us to heighten the awareness and take action so that all God’s people may live in peace and be freed of oppression.” Workshop registration is required at TINYURL.COM/MARCH2SIGNUP.

PARISH GALA: On March 2nd, St. Nicholas Church of Tacoma, WA, will hold its “Gala 2019” to benefit the parish Project 2020 Narthex Renovation. The Gala’s theme of “GREECE: Timeless Expressions, Abundant Joy” is an elegant black-tie optional event for adults only. It will feature silent and live auctions, great food, and notable wines. Mary Koumantaros will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. The keynote speaker is lawyer and CPA Tony Panagiotou¸ a University of Washington Milgard School of Business Small Business Leader of the Year in 2012. Harvard graduate and pediatric and adult plastic surgeon Frederick W. Ehret, M.D. is the Guest Speaker. For tickets ($75 each), email gala@stnicholastacoma.org

MARDI GRAS: On March 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., The St. Catherine Philoptochos Mardi Gras Dance Party will occur at the Church of the Assumption in Seattle, WA.  Tickets for the Apokreatiko Glendi are $10 per person or $25 for a family of three or more, and include heavy appetizers. MISSION SUNDAY: Alex Goodwin, Orthodox Christian Mission Center’s (OCMC) Annual Giving & Marketing Director, will be the guest speaker at Divine Liturgy at St. Demetrios Church in Seattle, WA on Mission Sunday, March 10.
