Greek Language Summer Programs

Through an app or at a summer camp, here are a couple of choices if you are looking for the best fit for your children/grandchildren to learn Greek this summer.

Ellinopoula – An innovative way for children to learn Greek this summer and beyond is through Ellinopoula’s app or online through their website. The app features unique content and illustrations through interactive entertainment while being in line with the educational guidelines set by the Hellenic Ministry of Education.

Ellinopoula has a feature called the ‘Learning Path’, a system of step by step lessons with videos and interactive content simulating a real classroom. Another feature called “SpeakUp” is a voice recognition feature that prompts children to read a word or phrase out loud. When pronounced correctly, they move onto another word. If pronounced incorrectly, SpeakUp prompts them to try again. The app offers Greek Mythology, History, Art, and Traditions. Artist Antonis Theodorakis created original Hellenism-themed lesson illustrations for the app.

Ellinopoula listened to the needs and requests of Greek schools and teachers which led to creating specific tools to make teaching Greek easier.

Our Greek Village/Greek Immersion Camp – A one week long Greek language immersion summer camp which is entering its 8th year. The camp is held at St. Nicholas Ranch in Squaw Valley, California near the foothills of Sequoia National Park and is for ages 8 to 15. This year camp will be held June 15 – 22, 2019. Leading the camp are Greek language instructors from throughout The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco.
